Another Iris Adventure
I know I sound like a broken record… but Iris in downtown Canton was absolutely phenomenal again. I can’t stop going down there :-)
Mark (my business partner) was in town and we stopped in for a late dinner.
I’m telling you, the food is the best in this area. No kidding.
So… Mark, Brett and myself are having a good time catching up when the band begins… good time quickly became great time.
The "Jeff Polis Blues Band" was the entertainment for the evening and these guys were excellent.
A drink or two later… the food arrives and my perfect NY Strip is delivered by our foxy server to a smokin’ rendition of Red House. How cool is that?
Brett gives the night a big thumbs up
I’d have to say this was my best experience yet at Iris.

Laurie is yet another great reason to come to Iris. Wow… I have a giant head :-)

….
Bye Bye Parker Fly
Sounds like a good song title… hmmm.
Chris, Jason and myself headed down to Iris for dinner last evening and we didn’t realize Wednesday is jam night. Awesome.
The band was "Big Daddy and the whodoo" or something like that… anyway, they were pretty good. Several people sat in and the music just kept getting better.
The guitar player had "Big Daddy" printed on his guitar strap, so it was pretty easy to guess who wasn’t Big Daddy. :-)
The Right Equipment
Ok… I have been wanting to get a little 4 piece band together and play some blues/jazz for a while now… but most of my gear has that rock and roll flavor. I needed that rich, deep tone you can only get from a Strat.
After watching Big Daddy play that Strat for a couple hours, it hit me… I am going to buy a Fender Strat tomorrow.
and that’s exactly what I did… :-)
I haven’t played my Parker Fly in about 2 years and it just sits in my studio. Hmmm… maybe I could trade it???
Off to Guitar Center
I drove over to my local Guitar Center and Jeff, my salesperson helped me
find the perfect Strat. We looked at several models and I decided on an American Deluxe with a tobacco sunburst, maple fret board and the "S-1" circuitry. Exactly what I wanted.
…and it is hot!
So while Jeff priced out my new Strat (including my trade-in), I stumbled upon another gem… a Fender Tele that just smokes. It is the same color as my Strat and I couldn’t leave without it. Jeff made me deal.
I am walking to the counter, yet another little voice calls to me (not really… I don’t hear little voices ;-) – it is a wonderful Yamaha acoustic with great action, a piezo pickup and 2-band EQ for $199. Realizing that I was still within my budget… you guessed it, Jeff made me a deal :-)
My main man Jeff, posing for a quick shot with me
This is the 2 band EQ for the Piezo pickup (not bad for under $200)
You can see why I couldn’t leave this Tele behind… and it smokes!
Tonight’s Adventure
I’ve been locked up in this house all week and just had to get out. A friend and I hit Iris for dinner and then over to a new jazz club that just opened up.
Once again, Iris was phenomenal. They had the "Howard Street Blues" band playing during dinner and the band was excellent… until the singer arrived. This cat looked like the homeless guy I saw yelling at traffic this afternoon.
The band was in the middle of the 3rd song when he stumbled onto the stage and started (loudly) tuning his guitar. He had to be wasted.
It was comical… I felt bad for the band. They were very good.
