Seven days in paradise
November 15, 2009 | Fun, Vacation
Cara and I just returned from seven days of paradise at La Amada Resort in Playa Mujeres Mexico. Less than a year old, about 40% occupancy and very beautiful.
You must experience this place to believe it.
The resort is relaxing, the food is outstanding, the views are breath-taking, the spa is wonderful, the beach is inviting but the staff is what makes this gem really shine.
They remember you. Your name, what you ate yesterday, what you like, what you don’t like… everyone knows you. Hola Mr. Burgess… cómo estás Mr. Jason… they remember your name like you are wearing a name tag.
Most of all, these wonderful people bend over backwards to make you feel like royalty.
We arrived on Friday to a Penthouse suite with a beautiful view of the ocean. 2900 square feet of marble floors with every luxury item you could ever want. (including your own pool on a private terrace)
On Monday, we were upgraded to the “Owners Suite”, a 4500 square foot mansion sitting on top of the third building… real close to the ocean… with an amazing view of everything. Wow.
Here are a few of our favorite people:
Pablo – This guys works very, very hard. You will find him in the Isla Grill or caring for guests on the beach. Always smiling, he really made our stay wonderful.
Arturo – A wonderful member of the La Amada staff. He was someone we looked forward to seeing at breakfast over at Aroma.
AB – One of our favorite people for dinner at Aroma. This guy really took care of us.
Enrique – (pictured left) A great guy and wonderful bartender. He really went out of his way for us. Seriously, over and above… he took Cara and I shopping in Cancun. Drove his car and translated for us… a saint.
Other favorites we unfortunately couldn’t get a picture of: Alberto at Isla, Joel and Webster at Aroma. Very hard workers, all about the guests. These guys were wonderful!
Here are a few memorable pictures:
I’m about to jump into this pool… it’s hot!

This is the beach… chairs and beach beds everywhere

One of two walk in showers… this was the guest shower believe it or not
The food was amazing. Cara is eating a spaghetti dish made with a rich curry sauce. She still dreams about it :-)
